The stylish man’s guide to monsoon dressing

So, the skies have opened up. Follow our tips and don’t let the rains dampen you style quotient.

Lose the jeans: Heavy denims are not a good idea in wet weather. If you get caught in a shower and they get drenched, your pants will take hours to dry. So, opt for light trousers that will dry easily and not crease heavily either.

Leave the canvas behind: You might live in your canvas sneakers all year, but ditch them in the monsoon. Wet shoes equal smelly feet. Instead, choose footwear in synthetic materials that will not soak up water.

Colour up: When the day is grey, it’s the perfect excuse to splash out on colour. Step out sporting brightly coloured shirts and tees. Pick prints and florals if you can carry them off.

An umbrella? Umbrellas can be a style statement, too. Pick a long one in a solid colour such as black or dark blue. The floral-printed folding umbrella is a no-no.

Haircare: The rainy season and humidity can wreak havoc on the hair. Get a fuss-free style for the season. Wash your hair frequently. Don’t pile on the styling products such as gel.
